Connie left a music teaching degree and local Midwest notoriety behind to follow her star to New York to study acting at HB Studio with Uta Hagen and Stephen Strimpel. After a short stint earning her Equity card in Off-Broadway Musical productions and working with such notables as John Cullum, Michael Price, and John Goodman, Connie joined a band signed to Columbia Records called Dakota. From that experience Connie worked in recording sessions for notables such as Phoebe Snow, Patti Austin, China Crisis, Walter Becker (Steely Dan), Lari White, and more. As an artist, Connie was signed to Morocco Records (Motown), fronting her own band, Fugitive Blonde, and performed in the L.A. and Nashville Club Scene. Her songs, ÒWildlifeÓ & ÒIÕm Blonde, HeÕs BlackÓ charted on alternative stations.
John Denver hired Connie to be a featured singer/musician in his band and television appearances starting in 1982. Denver cut a song they co-wrote titled, Thanks to You. Connie worked with John in the studio until his untimely death in 1997.
Last May (08), Connie was awarded a Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting from the University of New Orleans. Her plays are currently being read and staged by the Boca Raton Theatre Guild.
Connie is married to Roger Nichols and they are the proud parents of Cimcie, a successful L.A businesswoman, and Ashlee, a recent BFA graduate in film from UCF in Orlando.
